			<title>SPE Student Scholarships</title>
<description> The Permian Basin Section of SPE is a proud supporter of students pursuing careers in the petroleum industry. We offer scholarships to encourage the pursuit of Petroleum Engineering and related engineering degrees. We are currently providing $2000 each to thirty-four students for the 2007-2008 school year. Funds for our scholarships are raised primarily through the Section&#8217;s Golf Tournament and the CO2 Conference, with additional support from our AIMEES SPE auxiliary and our study groups. We are very appreciative of the section members and Permian Basin companies that support our events and make our scholarship program possible. Please note that, in order to recognize and honor the sources of our scholarship funds, preference for receiving a scholarship will be given to students whose hometowns are in the Permian Basin, and also to those students who have an SPE member as a parent, grandparent or guardian. The deadline for applications for the Permian Basin SPE Scholarship for...

			<title>11th Annual CO2 Conference Midland Texas</title>
<description> For ordering the Theme Session presentations: Call or email Sheila Goddard at the Center for Energy and Economic Diversification (432-552-2430 or Goddard_s@utpb.org) Click here for the Theme Sessions Agenda 11th Annual CO2 Conference &amp;ndash; Midland Texas December 8 &amp;ndash; 9, 2005 The convergence of tight oil supplies and high prices with increasing concern with global warming and the need for managing greenhouse gases was evident at the 11th Annual CO2 conference in Midland, Texas. There was a huge increase in attendees &amp;ndash; 415 for the Enhanced Oil Recovery Carbon Management Workshop event and the following CO2 Conference, up from just over 300 in 2004. And its clear that from the early conferences in the mid-90s, the conference has grown from a local, operations-focused conference into a global event. Only twenty-five percent of the attendees were from the Midland area. Attendees came from 10 foreign countries, 20 states, and represented 135 different companies,...

<title>ENHANCED OIL RECOVERY CARBON MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP</title>
<description> Click here to download of the Workshop presentations Click here for the Workshop Agenda ENHANCED OIL RECOVERY CARBON MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP Midland, Texas December 6-7, 2005 As the rest of the world continues to argue about the effects of CO2 emissions on global warming issues, proponents of CO2 injection as a means of enhancing oil recovery (EOR) quietly go about their business. Perhaps too quietly. Whatever your views on climate change &amp;ndash; and count me among the skeptics &amp;ndash; legal, regulatory, and policy decisions are being made today that will impact the production and use of CO2 in the future, said Kipp Coddington, attorney with Alston &amp; Bird in Washington, DC. Those decisions create both opportunities and risks for the CO2-EOR industry. By and large, the industry is not currently engaged in the debates. Time will tell if that was the right strategy. Coddington and others who served as panelists at the Enhanced Oil Recovery Carbon Management Workshop just...
